Frequently Asked Questions
(And Answers too)
The goals of Native Art Network are to support
Individual Native American artists and families, to cultivate
appreciation for Native
American fine art, and to educate and inform web visitors
interested in Native
American art and culture. We get many questions about
our operation, we attempt to address some of them here.
Do you sell art?
We don't, our artists do. We currently provide
a professional marketing presence for fine artists to showcase
themselves and their artwork. The artists may display artwork
here that is for sale. If you see artwork you like, contact
the artist through this website directly, and purchase it
directly from them.
We plan to enhance the site with online
sales in the future. We are currently working out policies
and procedures to ensure quality, consistency and maximize
customer satisfaction.
Do you buy art?
No, not at this time. We may in the future,
but when/if we do, we will purchase it only from and directly
from Native Art Network member artists.
Do you appraise
art?
No. The artist members here set their own
pricing, and we are not in the business of doing appraisals
of any kind whatsoever.
Can you provide
me with artists' contact information?
We do not give out contact information for
any of our member artists.
You may contact any of the artists via the
"contact me" link on their profile (you must register
first, it's free). Inquiries regarding their artwork and personal
messages are acceptable. You may not send solicitations of
any kind to artists via the "contact me" link. For
commercial type solicitations, we allow approved brokered
postal mailings to be sent to any or all artists for a fee.

us to learn more.
Are you non-profit?
No. We did consider going the non-profit
route since our primary goal is to benefit Native American
artists in our communities and families with an affordable
professional service. In the end, we chose to be a privately
owned "for profit" operation. We don't solicit grants
or donations to support our operations. Ultimately we are
market driven, which keeps us on our toes. Being a small company
allows us flexibility to develop services that we feel best
serve our artists and visitors.
We started this venture to directly benefit
Native American artists. Profit was a secondary goal, and
in fact at this time we are not making a profit. We cover
some of our costs by charging artists a modest annual fee
for their listing on the site, but we will make our profit
from online sales, and sponsorships from businesses and organizations
that tie in with Native
American arts. We will provide value to our sponsors by
promoting and marketing them and giving them access to our
membership of artists. Our standards are high, and we only
make sponsorships available to reputable organizations that
deal in art by Individual Native American artists and families.
Why
is right-click disabled on the art pictures?
We disable right-click on artwork pictures
by the artists' request. We want you to view their beautiful
works on the web site, but our artists are concerned about
other uses of their pictures. The artwork pictures are copyrighted
by each individual artist on our web site. If you see artwork
you like, we encourage you to contact the artist regarding
purchasing. If there is an artwork image you would like to
use, please contact the artist to ask permission to use it.
Are you REALLY
Native American owned?
Yes. We are Native American professionals
in the fields of software, database, business, marketing,
and internet technologies. We grew up in our communities on
the "rez" and have been surrounded by the arts all
our lives. Because of our professional backgrounds, artists
in our communities and families have been approaching us to
provide them an affordable professional internet presence
on the world wide web. Native Art Network was born to serve
that need.
I am a Native artist,
how do I join?
We showcase museum-quality fine art from
Native American and Native Canadian artists on the web site.
We maintain high standards and are selective about the artists
we allow to join. We automatically allow artists who show
at select juried Native American art shows and museums that
meet our standards of quality and authenticity (see application
page for specifics). Artists that don't meet this criteria
must be approved by us and must provide us with pictures of
their artwork along with proof of Native ancestry. The first
step to join is to register and fill out information on the
application page.
What's with all the ads?
We have developed a unique business model
in which we educate and inform, provide professional service
and yet make no profit from the modest annual fees we charge
artists. Our profit comes from advertising, sponsorships and
broker service fees. We have sponsors that advertise on Native
Art Network directly, and we also have text ads throughout
the site provided by third party advertisement brokers.
Our page layouts are designed to provide
value and service in the information we provide and have ads
be a compement to our content. We are selective about sponsors
who can advertise on Native Art Network. Our standards are
high, and we only make sponsorships available to reputable
organizations that are compatible with our mission to support
Individual Native American artists, families and communities
in a good way.
What kinds of sponsors
can NOT advertise on Native Art Network?
Alcohol ads, political ads, sex-related
ads, drug ads (though health and wellness products are acceptable),
ads from businesses or individuals who are unreputable or
who conduct business in an unethical way. We restrict the
types of advertisements we will accept from tobacco and casino
businesses (see the next FAQ below).
For sponsors that sell Native Art, we expect
that they purchase directly from the artists, that they pay
artists a fair price and that the sponsor doesn't sell art
work at a disproportionately large markup over what they pay
the artist.
This list is not exhaustive. We reserve
the right to reject ads from any sponsor we deem innappropriate.

Will
you accept Casino, Tobacco or Alcohol sponsors?
We do not allow advertisements promoting
gaming, tobacco or alcohol products. However, we will allow
ads from casino and tobacco companies that promote or showcase
projects, people, communities, the environment, or any positive
contribution the company is making to society. Ads may not
contain references to gaming or tobacco in any way.
We do not allow advertisements of any kind
from alcohol and alcohol-related companies. Click
