The Arts & Crafts Market takes place on Friday Aug 13 and Saturday Aug 14.
"Ceremonial", as it's known throughout the Southwest, hosts a world class juried art show, indoor and outdoor arts and crafts markets, opportunities to buy authentic Native American art and jewelry, indigenous ceremonial dances, a contest pow-wow, all Indian rodeos, parades, Native American foods, a Ceremonial queen contest and crafts demonstrations.
The juried indoor and outdoor art marketplace features one of the largest and varied displays of genuine Indian fine arts. Artists from around the region showcase their finest works including Navajo rugs, kachinas, jewelry, pottery, basketry, leather and bead work, paintings and sculpture.
Since the early 1920's, artists have greatly expanded their technical expertise and creativity far beyond definitions of "traditional" forms. Today, the Ceremonial Exhibit Hall combines trader/dealer booths and individual artists coming together to display the best of Native American Art.
Visitors to the exhibit hall are dazzled by the enormous quantity, quality and diversity of the millions of dollars in Native American Art on display. Hand-woven rugs the size of walls, jewelry fabricated from precious metals and gems, baskets, leather-work, paintings, intricately carved kachinas and pottery cover every inch of this vast interior space. You will see original contemporary and traditional artwork created by established and new artists representing a myriad of tribes and styles. All of the art on display has been judged by experts on Native American arts and crafts prior to the Hall opening to the public.
Collectors of Indian Art are assured authenticity with every purchase. The Gallup Ceremonial is known world-wide for its stringent adherence to authenticity and quality of every object on display and available for purchase.
